David Beckham, a world-renowned soccer star has had few stints in the movies. Even after moving to Los Angeles, David has expressed his lack of interest in movie career.
‘Bend it like Beckham’ was the first movie that supposedly starred David Beckham. David never personally appeared in the movie ‘Bend it like Beckham’ that was released in 2002. David and Victoria could not adjust to the shooting schedules. Thus, the real appearance of David Beckham was replaced by lookalikes and archives footage.
Movie “Goal: The Dream Begins” was released in 2005. David Beckham played minor role in the movie. Lookalike Andy Harmer stared in the movie, which had also played the role in ‘Bend it like Beckham’. “Goal 2: Living the Dream”, a sequel to Goal 1, has cast David Beckham in a larger role. Goal 3 is another sequel to Goal 1, would be released in 2008.
“Asterix at the Olympic Games” is the movie that displays David Beckham other than himself. Movie’s release is scheduled to coincide with 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

David Beckham during the span of around ten years, made more than two hundred and fifty premier league appearances, eighty-one champions league appearances, six premiership titles, two FA cup, one European cup, one International cup and one FA youth cup and above all couples of spectacular goals for his team.
Manchester United was keen to sign David Beckham to Barcelona; however, he preferred to tie up with Real Madrid. David Beckham signed a four-year contract with the license fees of 30+ million Euro in the year 2003. With this contract, David Beckham became the third British player to play for the club after Laurie Cunningham and Steve MacManaman. David Beckham became the most favorite of Real Madrid supporters when he scored five times in his first sixteen matches. However, his team could not win the most coveted titles in Spanish league and Champions league. Bookers were often curious at the matches in which David Beckham was to participate.

David Beckham, world’ top football player and celebrity, first English football player to play 100 Champion League matches, was born in Leytonstone, London, England on 2 May 1975. He was born to world’s most fortunate and proud parents Sandra Georgiana (mother) and David Edward Alan Ted Beckham (father). Father, David Edward Alan Ted Beckham, a kitchen fitter, was himself an avid fan of Manchester United. His parents often traveled to Old Trafford from London to attend matches of Manchester United team.
David Beckham started playing football right from the childhood in Ridgeway Park, Chingford. His schooling was done at Chase Lane primary school and Chingford Foundation School. David Beckham’s mother Sandra, a hairdresser, was the daughter of a Jew. David calls himself as half Jewish and often speaks highly on the influence of Jewish religion on his life. David has also stated in his book “Both Feet on the Ground‘ that he regularly visited church along with his parents and his two sisters Joanne and Lynne.

David Beckham’s peak football career began during 1998-99 season. David’s great performances brought him titles such as finishing runner up to Rivaldo for European Footballer of the year 1999 and FIFA world player of the year. Despite his great performances and awards, David Beckham did not become very popular among his fans and media circle. In fact, his relations with Alex Ferguson had also started deteriorating due to David Backham’s concentration to his family chores. However, the overall performance of David Beckham continued to remain exemplary during the next 3-4 years.
David Beckham remained as the player of first choice for England and awarded an OBE for services to football in June 2003. David Beckham’s parents were fanatical supporters of Manchester United team, which was David Beckham’s professional debuting team. David Beckham has inherited his parents’ passion for football. His parents played lot of influence in shaping the career of David Beckham. He started playing with a local youth team called Ridgeway Rovers at early age in the life His father, Edward, Stuart Underwood and Steve Kirby were the coach for Ridgeway Rovers team. David Beckham was trained at Bobby Charlton’s football school in Manchester. While being trained at Bobby Charlton’s football school, David Beckham got an opportunity to participate in a training session at FC Barcelona.
In 1986, David Beckham became the mascot of Manchester United teams‘ match against West Ham United team. Later on, David Beckham got the chances for trial matches with local clubs and other football schools of excellence. In 1990, David Beckham was declared as under 15 player of the year, which was his first recognition in the football.

After making his first appearance for England national football team in 1996, David Beckham was accepted as the first choice player for Manchester United team. David Beckham, after starting his football career with Manchester United in 1990s, got his first break in the England team in 1996. During 1996 – 1997 seasons, David Beckham was given number 10 shirt in his team. David Beckham came into limelight during a match against Wimbledon in 1996. His spectacular goal in the league match against Wimbledon brought him the much sought after recognition and then after he became a household name. In May 1997, most coveted number 7 shirt was vacated by Eric Cantona who retired as the football player. Immediately David Beckham was promoted to number 7 jersey.
David Beckham’s performance during 1996 - 1997 – 1998 with Manchester United was extraordinary; however, the overall performance of the team was erratic. It was during 198 – 1999 season, Manchester United team won Premier League (The Treble), FA Cup and Champions League, which was considered as the unique achievement of English team.
